Total Assets valued unearthed were around Rs 1.14 crore as per documentary value.

Visakhapatnam: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Visakhapatnam Range unearthed disproportionate assets related to an Assistant Engineer, Veeranki Ranga Rao, of Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. Total Assets valued unearthed were around Rs 1.14 crore as per documentary value.

A trap case was registered on January 31 this year against the accused for demanding a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from a complainant Bhupatiraju Ravi Varma, Transport Business, Veduruwada Village, Achutapuram Mandal, Visakhapatnam District for doing an official favour for processing load approval sanction and release of electrical, commercial service connection.

As there were allegations about acquisition of immovable and movable properties by the accused official Ranga Rao, the searches were conducted in the residential premises and two other places at Visakhapatnam city, Atchuthapuram of Visakhapatnam district and Atchanta of West Godavari District belonging to Ranga Rao and his family members.

He entered into the service in 2000 as Sub-Engineer and worked in electrical department, Kaikaluru of Krishna district. He was promoted as Assistant Engineer at Thatlavalluru section, Machilipatnam in 2005.

Later he worked at Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district, Gopalapatnam, Asilmetta and Atchuthapuram of Visakhapatnam districts. According to Director General of ACB RP Thakur, the case is under further investigation.
