Kakinada: Oil industry expert from Italy, Annamaria, representing Petrone of ENI, here on Saturday deliberated on the primary importance of oil industry professionals in ‘Risk Assessment Process’ in upstream oil field. The Kakinada chapter of Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), an international professional body of oil industry professionals, organised the meeting, which was sponsored by ONGC through its Eastern Offshore Asset (EOA) based at Kakinada.
Mr Ashok Varma, Executive Director – Asset Manager, ONGC, Kakinada, chaired the session, which was attended by 65 professionals representing various oil companies. Senior officials from ONGC included Mr AJ Morbale, Group General Manger (Mechanical), Mr Sukhu Oraon, Group General Manager (Electrical), Mr PK Dileep, General Manager (Production), Mr K Rajendra Prasad, General Manager (Well Services), and Mr MS Tonk, General Manager (Human Resource) attended the meeting.
SPE is a not-for-profit organisation that has membership of over 90,000 worldwide and nearly 2,000 in India. The SPE consists of a council at the national-level and sections at the State-level. SPE Kakinada is the only SPE section that functions in Andhra Pradesh.
The objective of SPE is to bring hydrocarbon and oil industry professionals onto a common platform to share their knowledge and expertise. The body also provides a forum for networking amongst professionals belonging to different sub-streams and various organisations, both academic as well as industry.
In this process of sharing learning, SPE meeting provides a vehicle for personal, professional and organisational growth. So far, SPE Kakinada has conducted 20 meetings here. Out of these, 11 times domain experts from abroad addressed the gathering at Kakinada section.
