No girl in top 10 in engg; five girls in medicine

Hyderabad: The pass percentage in engineering stream of EAMCET was down whereas that of medical stream was up this year, compared to last year. A total of 70.77 per cent of those who appeared for the test in engineering have qualified which is nearly two per cent less than last year (72.72%).

In Agriculture and Medical stream, a total of 83.16 per cent of those who appeared for the test held on May 22 have been declared qualified which was nearly 2.37 percent of higher than last year (80.79 percent) The results were declared on Monday by Jagadiswara Reddy, Minister for Higher Education of Telangana state. Boys and girls from Hyderabad bagged most of the ranks. Nandigam Pavan Kumar of KPHB Colony of Kukatpally in Hyderabad is the topper in engineering scoring 158 out of 160 marks. His combined score is 99.02%.

Interestingly, not even a single girl student figured in the top 10rankers in engineering. But in Agriculture and Medical stream, five girl students could make it to the top 10. Gurram Sai Srininvas of Markapuram in Prakasam district is the topper with a spectacular score of 159 out of 160 marks. His combined score is 99.45 per cent.
