Uncertainty Over Telangana EAMCET. The fate of Telangana students who are eagerly waiting for announcement of schedule for engineering counseling continues to hang in the balance.

Hyderabad: The fate of Telangana students who are eagerly waiting for announcement of schedule for engineering counseling continues to hang in the balance. Though the Telangana State Council for Higher Education chairman Papi Reddy, JNTU Vice-Chancellor Prof Rameshwar Rao, and VCs of three other universities met Education Minister G Jagadeshwar Reddy at the Secretariat to finalise the dates for the engineering counselling, they had failed to arrive at any decision on the dates for counselling in Telangana state.

Sources told The Hans India that details of the meeting would be briefed to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao before a final decision was taken. It is learnt that the issue of open category seats and nativity of the students’ under 15 per cent non-local quota was also discussed at the meeting today.

According to sources, the government had no issues to admit students in the non-local category, but their nativity would be cross checked. “There is no question of going back on filling seats under local category. The minister was of the view that all the quota seats would be filled with Telangana students only,” said sources.

Earlier, the TSCHE had said that the council would meet on Friday. A battery of newsmen who went to the APSCHE office after a long wait of about 4 hours were told that the meeting would not take place. All efforts to reach Chairman Papi Reddy went in vain.
