It's not 'Abhaya Hastam' but 'Maya Hastam'A Govt wasting thousands of crores on publicityA All welfare schemes of YSR given up YSR Congress Party Honorary President Y S Vijayamma came down heavily on Kiran Kumar Reddy government on Saturday and accused it of failing in all aspects of governance. Addressing a public meeting here after conducting a 'Rachabanda' programme on Saturday, Vijayamma rubbished the flagship of Kiran government Abhaya Hastam programme and described it as a sleight of hand (Maya Hastam). She asked how the people could survive for a month on half-a-kilo wheat, half-a-kilo red gram dal, half-a-kilo sugar supplied under the scheme. She said that the people came up with many complaints over the implementation of welfare schemes at the Rachabanda program, indicating that all sections of the people were dissatisfied with the Congress government. "YS Rajasekhara Reddy increased the Rs 40,000 crore budget to one lakh crore budget and implemented people-oriented welfare schemes. Now, the budget size has reached one lakh sixty crores, but no welfare scheme is properly implemented," she lamented. Vijayamma reminded the people that during the five-year rule of YSR, there were no new taxes and electricity charges were not increased. But the present government had been imposing more burden on the poor people. She regretted that the government was not completing the Jala Yagnam works to provide irrigation water to 16.5 lakh acres in Telangana region. She said that while the farmers were committing suicides in their fields, the government was whiling away its time by organising farmer awareness programmes. She criticised that the government had abandoned all the welfare schemes initiated by Rajasekhara Reddy. The Chief Minister, who was touting the Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu programme for employment generation for the educated youth, pushed 25 lakh workers on the roads by cutting electricity supply to the industries. She said the government was wasting thousands of crores of rupees on publicising the government programmes. MLA Srisailam Goud, former MLA Bajireddy Goverdhan district party president Janardhan Reddy, Vikarabad constituency coordinator Sanjiv Rao and others participated in the programme.
