According to an official of the State Hajj Committee, the committee lost Rs 40 lakh due to negligence by junior officers.

“In the wake of state bifurcation, the department of finance reportedly warned all the departments and institutions that that all the accounts linked with finance department would be frozen on May 30 and the amount deposited in it would go back to government treasury. After the notice, many institutions shifted their amount from their PD accounts linked with finance department to another account so that the amount was prevented from going back to government treasury. However despite repeated reminders by Prof SA Shukoor, special officer of Hajj Committee, his juniors took no action. As a result PD account of Hajj Committee was frozen and Rs 40 lakh deposited in it was transferred to government treasury. The Hajj Committee’s account now has zero balance,” stated the official.

Power failure disrupts Namaz

Power supply took a hit during Friday’s Namaz at Haj House halting the proceedings. As the loud speaker system became dysfunctional, Namazis prayers on the first and second floor remained incomplete.

It is said that the responsibility of maintenance of Haj House lies with the Wakf Board. A big generator was installed to overcome frequent power failures. The generator is connected to higher officials’ chambers and lifts. And the Masjid is deprived of the services of the generator. Even the loud speaker is not connected to the generator.
