Deputy Transport Commissioner S Venkateswara Rao on Wednesday said that the transport department has set up five special centres at petrol pumps in the city for vehicle registration and Aadhaar linkage. The special centres are at Chennupati Oil Filling Station, MG Road, Garapati Oil Filling Station, Gandhinagar, and at two oil filling stations at Seetharampuram and another on MG Road beside Swagruha Foods. The department made Aadhaar linkage mandatory for the registration of new vehicles a few months ago.

Speaking to mediapersons after launching the Aadhaar linkage service at an oil filling station in Gandhinagar, Venkateswara Rao said that the special centres would be operated by volunteers of Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA). A motor vehicle inspector (MVI) would be assigned to each centre to monitor the registration and Aadhaar linkage process done by MEPMA volunteers. Vehicle owners should submit photocopies of vehicle registration certificate, driving licence and Aadhaar card at the centres for linkage. After the Aadhaar linkage, an acknowledgment token will be issued to the vehicle owner to avoid duplication.

“It was proposed to set up more special centres in the city for the speedy completion of Aadhaar linkage,” the deputy transport Commissioner said.
