The CSE Department of VR Siddhartha Engineering College (VRSEC) organised a one-day national seminar on ‘Mobile Healthcare in Smart Cities’ on Wednesday. Resource person Ram Dantu, professor of Computer Science and Engineering, director of Centre for Information Security, University of North Texas, USA, delivered a lecture on mobile healthcare emergency services through smartphones in Smart Cities, which is a buzzword of the State and Central governments now.

“Vijayawada is going to play a key role in the development of Andhra Pradesh. Hence there is a need for implanting an innovative technology to handle emergency services through mobile communications. Students and technocrats should focus on developing innovative applications to diagnose health problems of a common man more accurately and at a low cost,'' he said.

VRSEC director K Mohana Rao said that interaction with eminent speakers as part of regular seminars of the college would help students and faculty enhance their knowledge and focus on new areas of research.

College principal AV Ratna Prasad, CSE Department head V Srinivasa Rao and faculty of various colleges attended the seminar.
