Black Holes Paradox
Dr B G Sidharth, director, B M Birla Science Centre, is the man who predicted that the universe was expanding much before others in the scientific community agreed upon the theory. He has also been vehemently claiming for over a decade-and-a-half that black holes do not exist.
With Stephen Hawking, renowned physicist; Mersini Houghton, theoretical physicist of University of North Carolina and other scientists now agreeing that there is no chance for the existence of black holes, the spotlight is once again on Dr B G Sidharth. The doctor demystifies the aura around black holes in an interview with T P Venu
Can black holes be observed?
Firstly, black holes cannot be observed directly. One can only infer their presence indirectly. As matter from nearby stars ream into black holes they emit x-rays, light and other forms of powerful radiation. One cannot see any objects but only gamma rays and conclude there is a black hole. That is how people were convinced for the past 100 odd years that black holes exist.
Is there a miniscule chance of its existence?
Black holes can exist only if the mass is hundred thousand times the mass of the sun. That is when there is a decent chance for the existence of a black hole which is generally called ‘super massive black holes’. But this is a far-fetched belief. Universal gravitational constant varies with time, which seems to be the case, and then this will destroy black holes instantly.
Hawking who believed in black holes now says it does not exist. Event horizon cannot be defined and thus one can conclude that black holes do not exist. An event horizon is nothing but a boundary around the black hole. When matter is rushing towards a black hole, there is a lot of data in the form of speed and position of a particle.
This disappears forever which Hawking suggested is a paradox. Today, hawking says that there is no such boundary--in other words there are no black holes. With the absence of event horizons, light cannot escape to infinity.
Mathematical calculations prove black holes cannot exist Physicists right from Mersini Houghton, Walter Greiner of Frankfurt Institute of Advanced studies, Ahmad Farag Ali, Mir Faizal, Barun Majaumder and others with mathematical calculations say that black holes cannot form. According to Mersini, the Hawking radiation prevents the formation of black holes.
Hawking Radiation, essentially a black body radiation predicted to be released by black holes near the event horizon, no longer holds value as physicists claim an event horizon cannot be defined and there is nothing such as a boundary. Super massive manifestations have no chance of existence.
