Gayatri, Sheetal topple seeds

Unseeded Gayatri Gopichand Pullela came good once again while toppling seventh seeded Ananya Goel of Delhi 21-17, 22-20 in the first round of the girls U-17 category of the OSHON All India junior ranking badminton tournament at Saroornagar Indoor Stadium here on Thursday.

In another big upset on the day, Karnataka’s unseeded Sheetal D gave te marching orders to sixth seeded Nishita Varma Pakalapati of Andhra Pradesh 21-16, 21-8.

In the men singles all the top seed played sailed to the second round.
