The flipside to the rapid strides being made in this sector is that it leaves the youth vulnerable to a host of cyber crimes.

In this regard, Delhi Public School in Secunderabad conducted a workshop on ‘Cyber Threats’ on Friday. The session was aimed to sensitse students about the topic and the preventive measures to be taken while surfing internet.

Rakshit Tandon, Director, A&R Info Security Solutions Pvt. Ltd spoke at the session. Outlining vital steps required for online protection, he said, “Avoid using public computers or sharing passwords.”

“An important tip for passwords is to not have a same one for both social media and banking accounts,” said Tandon.

“Be careful with personal devices in public spaces, especially when you travel, avoid sharing your personal devices with friends or strangers.

Remember, access to your social media account to a cyber bully can compromise your own safety and shred your reputation.

Do not post irresponsible or hurtful remarks on social media that will leave a permanent cyber trail and compromise your job prospects later or even invite criminal charges against you,” he warned about social media usage.

“While using Android phones, one should follow the two step verification and flush out all unused Apps and download only verified apps,” said the expert.
