With the setting up of Police Commissionarate in the Nizamabad district, the responsibility of the police has increased manifold, said the newly appointed Nizamabad Police Commissioner here on Tuesday.

In an exclusive interview with R Bhoopathi of The Hans India/HMTV, he said that efforts would be made to preserve and protect the peaceful conditions in the society and in bringing down the crime rate.

You have been recently appointed as the first Police Commissioner in the newly formed Commissionarate. How do you propose to discharge your responsibilities? Do you have any action plan?
Generally, a Commissionarate is confined to a city. However, here, the entire Nizamabad district comes under the purview of the new Commissionarate.

Earlier, I had a two-year stint as the Deputy Commissioner of Police at Madhapur in Cyberabad and now, my responsibility has been enhanced. Already I undertook a tour in Balkonda constituency. I will try to study their problems and take corrective measures.

I will ask the Special Branch to submit a comprehensive report and take action after going through it. Efforts would be made to minimise accidents on national highways. I will also focus on cases relating to Section 492(A).

With the creation of the new Commissionarate, there has been a sea change in the district police department. Will it lead to technological upgradation in the police department?
Already, the Crime Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) is in force. Under this system, information would be uploaded and provided online within 24 hours of filing the First Information Report (FIR).In future, there would be more technological changes and the core team of Information Technology department would be strengthened.

How do you propose to tackle the traffic woes in the district?
There is a special Police Thana to tackle the traffic problem in the city. The problem would be studied in depth and a review meeting will be held with the Transport Department officials to solve the problem. The traffic wing will be strengthened. We will appeal to the people to cooperate with the police in preserving the law and order.
