HMDA targets illegal structures

Continuing its demolition drive, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) brought down as many as 42 unauthorised buildings and 11 layouts on Tuesday.
Eight enforcement teams carried out demolitions in Kistareddypet Village (Patancheruvu Mandal), Kethireddypally Village (Moinabad Mandal), Abdullapurmet Village, Pocharam, Korremula (Ghatkesar Mandal), Nizampet, Bonguluru, Badangpet and Ibrahimpatnam.
According to officials, the enforcement has taken up the drive in surrounding areas in the metropolitan region where thousands of layouts and unauthorised structures have come up in gram panchayats.
Notices were served to all the illegal building owners and gated communities.
An official said that HMDA has informed people to regularise their plots till December 31 on payment of 20 per cent additional penal amount.
The demolition drive will go on for another 26 days.
