Nizamabad: In connection with the celebrations on the eve of New Year on December 31, the wine shops and toddy shops could remain open till the time permitted to them by the State government and have to close down. In a press release here on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police Karthikeya said that if any of them were found to remain open and selling liquor and other intoxicating drinks, stringent action would be taken against the owners of wine shops and their licenses would be cancelled immediately.

Action would be taken under the Motor Vehicles Act against those driving vehicles after consuming liquor.
