Kothagudem: Local MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao stated that any ailment could be overcome with moral courage. The MLA along with actress Gautami on Thursday inaugurated an awareness programme on cancer organised by the Greens Cancer Foundation at a school in Sujathanagar village in the mandal.
Addressing the people, the MLA said, if anyone had doubts about any health issue a doctor should be immediately consulted for diagnosis.
Stating that men were suffering from cancers mainly due to bad habits, the legislator suggested women patients to undergo tests utilising the machines specially procured for the purpose by the administration.
Citing her personal experience, actress Gautami observed that although suffering from cancer for 15 years, she was able to overcome it only because of moral courage.
“I am able to maintain good health. With fear, the disease gets intensified. Like in the case of cricketer Yuvraj Singh, everyone should use the right medicines to get cured,” the actor stressed.
Meanwhile, inaugurating the 28th Road Safety Week celebrations at local RTA office, Jalagam Venkat Rao cautioned motorists against over speeding as it would increase the accident rate.
He advised the two-wheeler riders to wear helmets and drivers of four-wheelers to tighten seat belts for safe journey.
On the occasion, he further disclosed that eight acres of land has been allotted at Ramavaram village for the construction of a driving track.
He released a pamphlet on road safety and advised every member of a family to take responsibility of teaching their children about traffic rules.
RTA Commissioner Hanumanth Reddy and Deputy Superintendent of Police Surender Rao and others took part in the programme.
