Yellareddy (Kamareddy): Works relating to the construction of Cement Concrete (C C ) road in Yellareddy town, which were stopped abruptly in January have not yet started again.

Even though the Yellareddy MLA Yenugu Ravinder Reddy sanctioned Rs 5 crore from his development funds tow years ago to convert the BT Road into CC Road, the officials of the Roads & Buildings Department remain indifferent in taking up the works. As a result, people of the town are facing lot of hardships in commuting from one place to another in the town on the dusty paths.

After facing several hurdles in calling for tenders and taking up construction works, the contractor who was selected is carrying out the work without sticking to rules and regulations and throwing al norms to the winds. Moreover, he is also not following the suggestions given by MLA Ravinder Reddy.

The motorist are having a harrowing time in commuting the 1.5 km route on the national highway. Speaking to The Hans India here on Tuesday, some of them lamented that they were forced to inhale the dusty air on the highway and falling sick due to respiratory problems.

It is also posing several health hazards, they added. They said that traveling also became very difficult during the rainy season.

Despite the fact that several Ministers, MLAs and the District Collector and senior police officials like the Superintendent of Police pass through this road on a regular basis, the officials concerned are not taking any interest in constructing the cement concrete road. People of the town vented their ire against the contractor for his negligence and indifference in taking up the works.

Some of the locals said that they were planning to bring the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao as a last resort as none of these local leaders or the officials took any interest in it. The officials of the Roads and Buildings were not available for comment.
