Kothagudem: All foolproof arrangements were made for the SSC examinations going to start from March 17 in the district, said the District Educational Officer NCH Hayagreevachari. Talking to The Hans India, the DEO sought cooperation of all government departments for the smooth conduct of exams.

Arrangements were made at 70 examination centers in the town, including seven for students who have failed once. In all, 14,073 students, including 4,403 students of private educational institutions, studying in 271 government and private schools, are going to take the exam.

Stating that total number of students who has failed once is 1,669, Hayagreevachari said no examination centre was identified as problematic. In fact, SSC examination centres were identified in areas where there were no police stations.

“Chief Examiner, departmental officer and the police officials bring the examination papers from the nearest police station on the day of examination and will store the answer sheets in the police station. Sitting squads have been constituted at 11 places,” he informed.

A meeting was held with Joint Collector Ramkishan in chair with RTC, Police, TS Transco, Medical and Health, Postal, Treasury, Panchayat Raj, RWS and Education department officials and decisions have been taken on measures to be initiated at the examination centres.

He said orders have been issued to officials to keep ORS, drinking water and emergency medicines at hand. Students should be at the examination centers by 9 am, half-and-a-hour before the commencement of the examination. The exam concludes by 12.15 pm. For the benefit of students reaching the exam centre, the RTC officials have been asked to run the bus services one hour prior to the commencement of exams.

The students have been advised against bringing their cell phones and android phones since these have been prohibited. In case of any untoward incidents taking place during the SSC examinations, the affected persons can contact the officials calling on the toll free number, which is yet to be finalised. He said Section 144 would be in place near the examination centres.
