IRCS Warangal chapter to donate Apheresis machine to MGMH
The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Warangal chapter has decided to donate ‘Apheresis’ (SDP) machine to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital (MGMH) in the city.
Hanamkonda: The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Warangal chapter has decided to donate ‘Apheresis’ (SDP) machine to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital (MGMH) in the city.
It is possible to obtain only platelets from a donor by a process called 'Apheresis' and the platelets thus collected are called Single Donor Platelets (SDP). The machine will draw required quantity of platelets from a donor and pumps back rest of the blood components to the donor through the same vein.
The decision to donate the machine has been taken at the third IRCS managing committee meeting held in Hanamkonda on Thursday. The committee member EV Srinivasa Rao has made a proposal to donate the machine for use at the MGMH and the committee approved it.
The machine worth about Rs 16-lakh will soon be handed over to MGMH authorities through Warangal Urban District Collector Amrapali Kata. The machine will help the cancer, dengue and malaria patients who need platelets.
During the meeting, a sub-committee to look after the generic medical shops being run by it different mandals in the district has been established with EV Srinivasa Rao , B Papi Reddy and B Hari Prasad as its members.
It is also resolved to select the Warangal IRCS managing committee member Dr P Vijaychander Reddy to represent the district chapter in the IRCS state chapters’ managing committee. The committee members have stressed on the need to increase collection of blood to address the needs of the patients.
The IRCS chairman Dr T Ravinder Rao, its vice-chairman Dr K Sudhakar Reddy, treasurer M Nagaiah, managing committee members P Srinivas Rao, G Purushotham, Dr S Vijaya Laksmi, P Venkatnarayana Goud were present.
