Kothagudem: The gradual increase in the mercury levels is restricting people to their homes. Even the important works are set aside as people choose to stay indoors due to rising temperatures.

Pinapaka constituency in the district has turned into a hearth with scorching heat and draining hot winds. The sufferings of children and senior citizens are beyond words. With the constituency being close to the coal belt, the heat refuses to die down even in the midnight.

With the Sun simmering from 9 am till 4 pm and 5pm in the evening, many in the district are putting off their works and staying at homes. They are forced to think twice even in the face of exigencies.

Meanwhile, the main thoroughfares are facing a deserted look with afraid of venturing out. As a result, most of the business establishments are shut with minimum transactions taking place.

Meanwhile, the people are extremely worried over the coming days as the mercury breached 45 degrees Celsius mark already.

The raising heat is leaving many with health issues such as fevers, vomiting and diarrhoea. They are opting for cool beverages in order to beat the heat which is helping petty vendors make huge profits.
