Thousands of devotees of Lord Krishna gathered at Hyderabad Collectorate office on Thursday protesting against the acquisition of ISKCON temple land at Secunderabad. Swamy Paripoornanda, Hindu religious head ; Bandaru Dattatraya BJP senior leader were amongst others who joined the protest opposing the government’s move to acquire the temple land. Addressing the gathering, Swamy Paripoornanda accused the government of being biased towards other religions and sparing their religious structures along the metro corridors.

“Hindu sentiments are being repeatedly hurt. There is a need for Metro Rail, but not at the cost of temple that has been there for several years and to which lakhs of devotees are religiously connected to. The government should consider other options,” said the Swamy. Echoing the similar thought, Bandaru Dattatraya said, the government should consider other routes to carry out the metro line. “If the government continues its adamant behaviour, then the protest will be taken up at the national level,” warned the BJP leader.

Later, the delegation presented a memorandum to the Hyderabad District Collector against the acquisition of temple land.
