Within a short time Sunburn Festival, Goa has increased in popularity and size with music lovers from across India looking forward to the grand event, every year. And this includes a huge number from Hyderabad who make the musical pilgrimage to the Mecca of Music in India. Shailendra Singh, Joint Managing Director, Sunburn festival, promises new edition of the festival, closer home, during a recent visit to Hyderabad. The celebrated electronic dance music festival is now going to take place in Bangalore too, on November 16 and 17. “Though Goa Sunburn is one of the oldest and popular festivals, it has gained immense popularity in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore and so we have taken an initiative to hold the fest in different cities in order to make the festival available for more music lovers,” shared Shailendra Singh. As going from Hyderabad to Bengaluru is very easy and economical, the Hyderabadi Sunburn fans can now head to the garden city for the fest.
“We have followed the same method with our north and west editions in Noida and Mumbai respectively. People from Kolhapur, Ahmedabad and Lucknow who do not want to miss the spirit of the fest can choose their nearest city,” he added.
“Sunburn Arena gigs - like SHM, Hardwell, Tiesto – focus purely on that one artist. The stage, sound and lights are super advanced to make them look amazing. For Sunburn Festivals, we devote a lot of energy to create the festival vibe,” he says.
As the dance, music, book reading, shopping, food and other cultural activities too are the attractions of the festival; it has become a platform for all the upcoming independent dancers, musicians and live performing artists to reach out people with their gigs. “Sunburn festival can be a platform for live auditions for newcomers and is a way to reach to the global audience as it gets broadcast online in 80 countries.”
Shailendra in addition to travelling across India spreading the spirit of Sunburn is also working on his upcoming book, ‘Let’s Talk about Sex’ with an aim to break the social taboos we have on the same.
He ended up the conversation on a bright note as he said, “If we get positive response from the city, we might organise a day-long Sunburn festival at Hyderabad in February 2014.”
