The South Central Railway (SCR) intensified the drive towards maintaining cleanliness on railway premises. In October, 6,525 people (2,592 in Secunderabad division, 2,090 persons in Vijayawada division, 905 in Guntakal division, 274 in Hyderabad division, 242 in Nanded division and 422 in Guntur division) were penalised for violating the rules.

Cleanliness at railway premises rule authorises the railway administration to penalise up to Rs 500

An amount of Rs 13.06 lakh was realised from these offenders towards penalty. The Indian Railways (Penalties for Activities Affecting Cleanliness at Railway Premises) Rules, authorises the railway administration to penalise up to Rs 500. These provisions are being vigorously implemented on all the six divisions.
