Music is a medicine to both heart and mind and for the love of music V Shravanth Reddy, 19, who was unimpressed with the sound quality of the speakers and home-theatre system, has started building his own speakers and amplifiers at his home at age of 16.

His hobby of building better speakers has grown into an entrepreneurial idea; where Shravanth now builds and customises speakers as per the customers’ choice with different vibrant colors, shapes, sound intensity and sizes. Shravanth is the best seller at Amazon India and star-rated seller with e-bay.

Shravanth Reddy is prosecuting his engineering second year in Electronics and Communications (ECE) from Brilliant College of Engineering, Hyderabad and he is also pursuing Sound Engineering course from Panache School of Sound, Hyderabad.

“I started dismantling the speakers from the age of 12; as I was not happy with the sound quality, it took one year for me to build my own working speaker,” says Shravanth Reddy.

“There are no courses or curriculum available for sound engineering in India. One has to complete B.Tech then M.Tech to specialise in Acoustics Engineering (Sound Engineering). So I have acquired my knowledge of sound and acoustics through DIY videos and internet,” he adds. Shravanth looks forward to open his own manufacturing unit after completing engineering as he is assembling speakers from his residence presently.

“I have even decided and registered the name of my company ‘Eight Audio’ and planning to start it after completing B. Tech,” says excited Shravanth. “I mostly import accessories and speaker components from abroad and assemble them before sending it to the customers and coming to amplifiers I personally build them as per the request of the customer,” he adds. Shravanth has been selling online and offline since three years and an amplifier and speaker combo costs Rs 40,000 where a single amplifier costs Rs 20,000.

“Most of my offline clients are DJs, music teachers, music bands and music theatre owners as they need customised speakers which are not available in market,” Shravanth points out.
