Yashoda Hospitals Secunderabad is conducting a three-day international workshop on ‘Sports Medicine’ recently in which delegates from foreign countries and from India participated along with 1,500 physiotherapists, coaches and managers.

It was inaugurated by Excise & Prohibition, Sports and Youth Services Minister T Padma Rao. Olympian PV Sindhu and Special Advisor to the Government BV Papa Rao were present at the inaugural session.

Olympic silver medalist Sindhu said, “It is important to understand that Sports Medicine is not only for the elite sportspersons but major task before spots medical professionals would be to spread the message and offer our services at the grass-root level.”

Managing Director of Yashoda Hospitals group Dr GS Rao announced that the Yashoda group is establishing a Rehabilitation Center of international standards which will be of service to sportspersons.

Speaking on the occasion organiser of the workshop and specialist in sports injuries Dr Nitin Kumar B said that the workshop aims to create better physiotherapist to support healthier sports teams in the State. He said the importance and role of sport medicine is growing rapidly.

“Sports Medical professional and Physiotherapist team will have a great future, as more and more national, international sports persons are emerging in the State,” he said.

Dr Kumar was hopeful that Hyderabad will host Olympics in the future. “We can see how much people are eager to compete for sports at the state as well as national level no wonder it is all due to facilities offered with sports quota nowadays, the importance and prospects of a career in sports is being realized by many youngsters and parents in the state,” he said.
