From persons who make a living through autorickshaw driving to CEOs, opinion makers, people in the media, celebrities, homemakers, students, children in schools, young people in colleges, just about everyone from various walks of life come together every year with acts and ideas of giving and exchanging.
#DaanUtsav, is celebrated from October 2 to 8 since 2009. It celebrates the universal spirit of giving and the joy derived from any act of giving, thus the Joy of Giving.
As India celebrates, across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh the celebrations spread through similar groups of people and thousands of individuals too since 2009 and has seen a great enthusiasm among students. Hyderabad has always had in addition, celebrities speaking up with their experiences of the joy of giving.
For #DaanUtsav 2017 ace badminton player Jwala Gutta has come forward to lend her voice of support. This Arjuna awardee is happy to speak up in support of the acts of giving that many not for profit organisations are engaged in. She is the chief guest of the day.
#DaanUtsav has active volunteers and Majulatha Kalanidhi of Rice Bucket Challenge fame is a volunteer special guest. She has raised huge quantities of rice that has fed thousands of needy from the rice that is contributed as part of this unique challenge.
Marriott group of hotels at Hyderabad and at its other locations has been celebrating #DaanUtsav and encouraging its associates to participate in their initiatives. In addition, they support the event and are hosting the meet.
