Falaknuma being decked up

Falaknuma: Officials of Municipal, Water Board, Electricity, Traffic Police and other departments are working in coordination round-the-clock to ensure that beautification of the Falaknuma stretch completes properly besides streamlining routine business in the area.

As preparations for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) reach its peak, roads on the Charminar and Falaknuma side are being decked up to welcome global delegates, which includes US President Donald Trump and his daughter Ivanka., who is scheduled to stay at the Taj Falaknuma Palace. It is expected that she may visit Charminar, Laad Bazar and adjoining tourist spots during her visit.

In this regard, footpaths on the Falaknuma road are being repaired and new pave blocks to give it a polished and colourful look. The road divider railings are being re-painted, and a new road is being laid on the stretch. Moreover, traffic management on the stretch, which is usually chaotic, is getting streamlined. In this regard, police and GHMC officials removed encroachments from the footpaths and shifted beggars from the area to the Chanchalguda Jail and other rehabilitation centres in the city. In addition, vigilance and surveillance in the area has been enhanced during the past week.

Meanwhile, vendors and other shopkeepers in the area are finding it difficult to keep up with the preparations. A vegetable seller from Falaknuma, P Ramesh, said that the arrangements were good, but destructing the business on footpath was uncalled for. “The Municipal staff has removed my push cart even though it was on the inside of the main road and not on the footpath,” he complained.
