Life is all about sharing things as much as we can with others and proving that as human beings, we care for each other. Nacharam: Life is all about sharing things as much as we can with others and proving that as human beings, we care for each other. At every point of time, life throws different challenges in front of us, tackling all of them with smile on our face is where we prove ourselves that we can face everything in life.
A social worker Satti Ramchandra Reddy has dedicated almost his whole life, fighting for social causes and standing up for justice for unheard voices in our society.
When asked about what motivated him to be a social activist, Satti Ramchandra Reddy told The Hans India, “It is more about upbringing.
I lost my parents when I was seven years old. My grandparents brought me up from then. Every time I visited a temple, my grandmother used to teach me to feed the black ants there. On my way to the temple, I also used to distribute some eatables like chapathi with jam spread on it or milk bread or homemade sweets to beggars outside the temple.”
Satti Ramchandra Reddy said that his grandmother used to tell him stories related to nature and how it helps us to sustain life on planet. This is one of the reasons why I am very close to nature. I have been working on conserving birds predominantly in the urban areas, by placing wooden nest boxes on various trees and on top of homes.”
Satti Ramachandra Reddy builds woodenhomes for birds and gifts them for his loved ones on special occasions like birthdays. He ensures that whatever he does, his five-year-old son also takes part in it. He said, “It is important for a child to develop moral values at early stage. This helps them to become a good human being.”
Satti Ramchander Reddy finds peace and solace in celebrating festivals and all the happiness of his life with the poor and underprivileged. This is one of the reasons why he celebrated Sankranthi with orphans. While others were busy enjoying kite-flying with friends and family members, Satti Ramchander Reddy chose to distribute kites to the children at orphanage and fruits and other eatables in old age homes.
Some of the diverse activities Satti Ramchander Reddy has been doing involved conducting of awareness programmes on adverse effects of tobacco on health of individuals as well as nature, awareness programmes on 'Glaucoma', the pivotal need to get it diagnosed, candle Light walk expressing solidarity to bomb blast victims, peace walk, inviting people from all religions to give a message that we are united and religion is something which everyone should confine to a prayer room and live with fraternity.
