To get enlightened to each other’s concerns, capabilities, limitations, and synergise efforts for creating conducive environment to bring about positive results in providing security to civil public and defence establishments, a Security Convergence Meeting was held between police and military officials at Secunderabad Military station on Wednesday.
Secunderabad: To get enlightened to each other’s concerns, capabilities, limitations, and synergise efforts for creating conducive environment to bring about positive results in providing security to civil public and defence establishments, a Security Convergence Meeting was held between police and military officials at Secunderabad Military station on Wednesday.M Mahender Reddy, Director General of Police, Government of Telangana and Major General N Srinivas Rao, General Officer Commanding, Telangana and Andhra Sub-Area chaired the meeting. Speaking at the meeting, Major General N Srinivas Rao highlighted the present security environment and recent developments in the country with increased terrorist activities as well as involvement of anti-social elements. He expressed concern as Secunderabad Cantonment, Golconda, Mehdipatnam and Bowenpally are open and porous Cantonments with large civil population around them.
Major roads and highways close to the Cantonment area have further compound the problem of security. Mahender Reddy, DGP, in his opening remarks felt that such convergence activities between Armed Forces and Police are very important to develop rapport between officials and get prepared to face any contingencies effectively. He welcomed armed forces to have their representative at the Integrated Command Control Centre coming up at Road No 12, Banjara Hills for better coordination.
In the meeting several external and internal security issues were discussed and also reviewed the preparedness for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. NSG, Octopus and Greyhounds presented power point presentation of their activities.
Commandants of all military and Air Force establishments in the station, Senior police officials including Shri Jitender, Additional DGP (Law and Order), B Bala Naga Devi, IGP, Home Guards, Anjani Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, Mahesh Bhagwat, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, V C Sajjanar, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, V Naveen Chand, IGP, Intelligence, representatives of NSG, Gray Hounds and Octopus participated in the meeting.
