Secunderabad: The police have declared Gopalpuram area of Secunderabad as a safe zone following fixing of CC cameras in four centres under the local police station limits. Announcing this on Monday, City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said it was a creditable that crime rate in Secunderabad has fallen by 60 per cent thanks to the tactful handling of the police of a variety of people coming to local railway station from various parts of the country.

Speaking to the Hans India, he revealed that CC cameras were found to be very useful in checking the crime rate and in nabbing offenders. Kumar impressed upon everyone to extend their cooperation in the installation of CC cameras. After the fixing CC cameras through the good offices of ‘Nenu Saitam’ the crime rate has fallen, he asserted, adding that everyone should join hands in declaring the city crime-free. He revealed that two lakh CC cameras have been installed in the city. ‘There is a need for increasing their number’, Kumar stressed.

The CP stated that people could give information on their problems by dialing 100, which receives about 50,000 calls every week. ’The police are able to reach the spot within six minutes of receiving a call’, he asserted.
