Vikarabad: District Collector Omar Jaleel laid emphasis on performing yoga to keep body and mind under control and felt that yoga is the panacea for the diseases that occur in the modern days of hectic lifestyle.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the fourth International Yoga Day celebrations held at the police parade grounds here on Thursday. He advised the people of all faiths to practise yoga for better health. Yoga helps improve the average lifespan of the people. District Collector asked the SP Annapurna to earmark space and time for performing yoga in the police parade grounds and appointed Mallesam as the yoga instructor. He said that he would strive to sanction honorarium for the instructor.

The SP said that anxiety and stress levels of government employees would come down provided they practise yoga everyday and their productivity will increase. Joint Collector Arunakumari, Additional SP Narsimhulu, excise superintendent Vara Prasad, BC welfare officer Pushpalata, municipal commissioner Satyanarayana Reddy, MPDO Sattayya and others took part in the celebrations.
