Bashirbagh: The newly-formed Jai Bharath National Party on Monday demanded the resignation of BJP president Amit Shah taking moral responsibility for the scam in the cooperative bank in Gujarat, in which he was the director.

Party chief Gorakapudi Chinnayya Dora raised the demand while speaking to the media here. Recalling that demonetised notes worth Rs 746 crore was deposited in the cooperative bank, he questioned how could such a large amount be deposited in the bank in a short time? He asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who claimed that the NDA would offer a corruption-free administration, to clear his stand on the issue. Dora claimed that many persons waiting at the bank for money had died. He demanded Rs 50 lakh as ex-gratia to their families and an inquiry into the deposit of large scale demonetised currency in some cooperative banks.
