Medchal: District Collector MV Reddy on Wednesday directed district officials to take steps to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the people in distribution of essential commodities on account of the stir by the FP dealers from July 1.

Reviewing alternative arrangements to supply essential commodities to people because of the proposed stir, he threatened to initiate stern action against the FP dealers who cause hurdles in the supply of essential commodities. He pointed out that the FP dealers are also saddled with responsibility of supply goods to the people along with the state government.

Every month over 4.80 lakh families get their rations through e-pass mechanism.District Supplies Officers have been asked to make alternative arrangements to supply goods to the people because of the FP dealers are going on strike from July 1.

He told them to use gram panchayat, DWACRA and community halls as distribution centers and take steps to supply rations from July 5 to 10. He told them to take precautions to prevent the commodities getting wet due to rain and save them from rodents.

He wanted the rations to be supplied through nominated dealers and women’s groups and asked the DSO, MEPMA and DRDA project directors to make suitable arrangements for the same.

At mandal level, Tahsildars have been asked to inspect the commodities regularly. He asked the people not to be worried about supply of essential commodities and assured them that the rations would be supplied to them on time.
