Shapurnagar: Activists of Qutbullapur CITU mandal committee on Wednesday took out a protest rally from local Rythu Bazaar to Sagar Hotel crossroads demanding withdrawal of the Bill amending the Motor Vehicle Act.

Addressing the protestors, K Lakshman, district CITU leader, wanted the government to drop the Bill and bring petrol and diesel under GST. He pointed out that CITU had supported Tuesday’s nation-wide bandh against the Bill, as its several provisions would weaken the transport sector and appear to be an attempt to hand over the sector to private corporate forces.

The CITU leader pointed out that the Bill could pave the way for jailing of drivers. He warned of a united struggle by the transport workers if the Centre failed to drop the Bill. Among those who took part in the rally were CITU leaders Eshwarayya, Khaleel, Balayya, Anita, Nagaraju, Sunita.
