Amberpet: Dandu Suresh, a tree-lover from Arkapalli village in Madgula mandal of Ranga Reddy district, has great affinity for nature. He firmly believes that a tree provides food, shelter, fodder and life support of oxygen to people.

To spread his message far and wide, Suresh has adopted a novel method of writing on walls wherever he goes ‘Chettu-Amma-Mokka-Akka’ (tree is mother, sister) in rural areas. Even his shirt has this message so that people, when he moves, can see and understand the concept of promoting green cover.

Says Suresh that ‘it is equally important to ensure the survival of a sapling after it is planted’. He undertakes rallies, writings on walls and drawing figures there, to propagate the need for growing more trees, thus giving a boost to the green cover which is vital for protecting the environment. At the same time, he is explaining to those who care to give an ear to the wise words. He says, “ harm is being caused to the nature by merciless chopping of trees, whatever be the provocation.”
