Yalal: A fake baba Kurva Kishtaiah is looting money from the gullible public claiming to exorcise the ghosts and promising to solve their infertility problem with lemons. The baba, clad in yellow dhoti and green kanduva, armed with a knife in one hand and a bunch of peacock feathers in the other was seen hitting the devotees’ backs with the peacock feathers.
His modus operandi was to act on Full Moon and New Moon Days as though he was possessed by God in Mallikarjuna temple in Yenkeypalli of Yalal mandal. He would panick the people by stating that they would not be able to reach their goals in life because of Saturn’s influence, Naga Dosham and evil spirit. To have darshan of the Baba, one has to take a token of Rs 20 from the baba’s son Kurva Raj Kumar. During the darshan, he would give lemons to the people. He would collect maximum possible extent from the devotees.
Even the childless will be blessed with children provided they use the lemons given by him. He would resist the dalits from entering the temple and would ask them to have darshan from the outside and relate their problems to the deity from outside. A woman devotee was found doing so. When this correspondent revealed his identity, the Baba changed his clothes and denied having taken money from customers.
He claims to have been feeding the poor with his earnings. He denied giving lemons to the childless couple. He even went to the extent of pleading with The Hans India correspondent to negotiate the price asking him not to publish the report.
