Hyderabad: The Telangana leaders who had planned to hold victory rallies in all the districts of the Telangana region including door- to- door distribution of poster stickers of Telangana map with a photo of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has been put on hold. The victory rallies were being planned to see that Telangana regional party TRS or its chief K Chandrasekhar Rao does not claim credit for the decision to carve out separate state.

But it is learnt that the T Congress leaders have now decided to postpone the rallies for two reasons. One the Congress high command is learnt to have asked them to go slow in view of the ongoing agitations in Seemandhra region, since victory rallies at this point of time could add more fuel to anti-Congress wave and lead to escalation of agitation in that part of the region. Secondly, the T Congress leaders feel that organising such rallies without the support of PCC may not be feasible.

Organizing huge rallies at every district headquarter is an expensive proposal. Unless they can find people who can sponsor such meetings, it would not be a practical move, they feel. Normally, whenever such meetings are organised, most of the burden is shared by the second rung leaders in the district. But since the elections are not very far, no leader is said to be willing to spend such huge amounts on victory rallies. It remains to be seen if the Minister for Information and Public Relations DK Aruna would go ahead with the rally she proposed to organise in Mahbubnagar district or not.

The T leaders are now trying to wriggle out of it saying that they would like to wait for some more time before holding victory rally since Sonia Gandhi had announced that a Government committee would be constituted to look into the Telangana issue. Though they exude confidence that this in no way means that the Congress high command would go back on its decision to bifurcate the state, they would like to abide by the advice of the high command not to do anything that would escalate trouble in the other region.
