Hyderabad: Coming down heavily on the Andhra investors in Telangana region, Prof Haragopal urged the students of Osmania University to analyse the Telangana movement from common people’s prospective. He asked if they wished to observe September 17 as Telangana Liberation Day or a day of deceit for its people.
Addressing a gathering of students at a meeting organised by Osmania University Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU), he wondered why the people of Andhra region were quiet when a handful of investors from their region were perpetrating injustice on the people of Telangana.
He mentioned how Lagadapati and Ramoji Rao had amassed huge wealth by illegal means, yet the entire Andhra community living in Hyderabad was quiet about it. He opined that September 17 was a liberation day for the people who got benefited after the merger of Telangana with Andhra region. However, for victims, it had always been a day of injustice and deceit. He encouraged students to study history through a historic methodology, looking at September 17 from a political and academic view.
