Karimnagar: District Collector Smita Sabharwal took part in 'gram sabhas' held at Hanmajipet village of Vemulawada mandal and Sanjeevaiah Nagar in Siricilla town in the district on Friday as part of 'Indiramma Kalalu' programme. Addressing the villagers at Hanmajipet, she said that the government brought out the ambitious Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) Sub-Plan to ensure overall development of people belonging to SC, ST communities in the State. An amount of Rs 12, 500 crore allocation was made in the 2013-2014 budget for implementing various programmes under the plan, she added. The Collector enquired about the implementation of various government schemes such as MGNREGS and Indiramma Houses and facilities like CC roads, safe drinking water and drainage system in the village. She asked them to send their children to government schools. The Collector interacted with members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and told them to start cottage industries by using loans provided by the banks. Speaking at Sanjeevaiah Nagar, the Collector announced that house sites would be sanctioned to eligible SCs and STs and CC roads, drainages, community halls would be constructed in their colonies. She called upon the people of SC, ST communities to avail the welfare programmes. The district administration will organise 'Indiramma Kalalu' progarmmes till April 30 to highlight the significance of the SC, ST Sub-Plan. RDO Srinivas, MROs Raj Mohan and Siricilla Municipal Commissioner Suman Rao and other officials were present.
