A sum of Rs 2,082 crore had been earmarked for providing safe drinking water to every household in the district and the works were progressing at a quicker pace in the Godavari segment, said Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao here on Thursday.

The Minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of a ground level Balancing Reservior at cost of Rs. 1.60 crore at Gandugulapally village of Dammapet mandal here. The Minister said that the State Government had designed various schemes to provide basic facilities to people living in Telangana State like water for irrigation and drinking purpose, education and health.
Mission Bhagiratha project was intended to provide safe drinking water. “There has been delay for some time due to the floods which occurred recently. But the works are going on at a quicker pace now. By bringing water directly from the Godavari, safe drinking water will be provided to the people in the district,” he observed.
The government had started residential schools in each constituency for the development of education in the State. "I will take initiative for sanctioning residential schools for people belonging to SC, ST and BC communities in Dammapet mandal," he observed. The government was also concentrating on Primary Health Centres and taking necessary steps for their development by providing all facilities, he said.
Work relating to development of roads in Dammapet and Ashwaraopet had already started. People must supervise the works and expedite them, he urged. The Minister also inspected the Water Grid works in Radhamgutta village of Ashwapuram mandal and in Thoguddem village of Raopalvoncha mandal.
He held a review in Kothagudem with the officials to discuss the progress of Water Grid works in Kothagudem.ZP chairperson Gadepally Kavitha, Ashwaraopet MLA Thati Venkateshwarlu, DCCB chairman Muvva Vijay Babu, Gandugulapally village sarpanch K Kavitha, MPTC Veerabhadram, Mission Bhagiratha SE K Srinivas, EE K Ravindra, DE Ch Prasad, AE’s Mallikarajun, Manishankar, Hari Krishna and R&B officials Ravindra Kumar, Manohar, Thaneshwar Rao and Suri Babu were among those present.
