Nalgonda: Leaders of the local Mahila Sangham on Thursday submitted a representation to the District Superintendent of Police N Prakash Reddy seeking stringent action against a youth for allegedly sexually exploiting a girl on the pretext of marriage and selling her to a brothel in Macherla.

According to Rajeswari, leader of the Mahila Sangham, Mahesh, taking advantage of the girl's innocence gave a written undertaking to marry after professing love.

She told The Hans India that the girl had been supporting her father in feeding the family, comprising two younger sisters and a mentally-ill mother, by working as a maid. Rajeswari said Mahesh not only sexually abused the girl, but also made her believe that they could live happily after taking up business. He convinced her to take up flesh trade and subsequently sold her to a brothel.

The girl spent harrowing time after being forced to become a prostitute. After realising that she has been cheated, she escaped from the brothel, returned home and lodged a complaint against Mahesh at the One Town Miryalaguda Police.

Rajeshwari alleged that the police failed to act on the girl’s complaint. Later, the girl approached the Mahila Sangham seeking strict action against Mahes
