Hyderabad: As part of its plan to bring administration to the doorsteps of people in the new districts, the Telangana government was planning to spend Rs 1,032 crore to build new collector-cum-camp office complexes in 21 out of 26 districts. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will lay the foundation stones for Sircilla Collectorate complex on October 11 and for Suryapet Collectorate complex on October 12.

Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao held a review meeting with the officials at his camp office in Hyderabad on Monday. He discussed on the progress of works being taken up for National Highway roads between Hyderabad and Amaravathi (New capital of Andhra Pradesh State) and also on other projects sponsored by the Union government.

The Usha Reddy Architect Company has been given the contract to construct these office complexes in one year. The buildings will be of international standards and eco-friendly, he added. The Minister also asked the officials to speed up the works and take steps to get funds from the Centre without delay.

According to the estimates, nine new Collector-cum-camp office complexes will come up in 1.50 lakh sq ft area while the rest in 21 districts will be in 1.25 lakh sq ft area, he said. The nine districts to get new Collectorate offices in 1.50 lakh sq ft are: Khammam, Nizamabad, Mahbubnagar, Warangal, Ranga Reddy at Shamshabad, Siddipet, Kothagudem, Kama Reddy and Medchal. The remaining 17 districts to get new collectorate offices in 1.20 lakh sq ft are: Vikarabad, Jangaon, Bhongir, Sircilla, Nirmal, Suryapet, Medak, Nagarkurnool, Peddapalli, Wanaparthy, Jagtial, Warangal Rural, Mancherial, Gadwal, Asifabad, Mahabubabad and Bhupalapally.

In the proposed new collectorate offices area, the Collector residence will be in 6,000 sq. feet, Joint-Collector house in 3000 sq ft and District Revenue Officer house in 2,500 sq ft and 148 houses to other staff in 1500 sq ft each. All the other ministers are given assignments to lay the foundation stones in the remaining 19 districts, he added.
