3 feared washed away in Godavari

In a tragic incident, three persons were washed away in River Godavari at Meduvai on Thursday when they went to the river to wash clothes. The mishap occurred when water level in the river increased suddenly.
Bhadrachalam: In a tragic incident, three persons were washed away in River Godavari at Meduvai on Thursday when they went to the river to wash clothes. The mishap occurred when water level in the river increased suddenly.
The victims were identified as Pingali Aruna Kumari, Buddula Ram Prasad and Madakam Rani, all belonging to AMC Colony in the temple town. Those who were on the river bank managed to rescue two others, Tati Jayasri and Suram Navin, with the help of the bedsheets.
Venkanna Babu, husband of Aruna Kumari wept inconsolably after he failed to rescue his wife. Meanwhile, expert swimmers were pressed into service to trace the bodies. Etapaka police registered a case and started the investigation.
