Khammam: It’s time for the State government to focus on the problems faced by the Gulf migrants, senior Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao said. Speaking to the media persons at the Sanjeeva Reddy Bhavan here on Monday, he criticised Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for ignoring the plight of those working in the Gulf countries.

“The government which allocates crores of rupees for celebrating Bathukamma festival do not has concern towards helping the migrants facing misery,” VH said. People in the region thought that they would live a better life after the formation of Telangana State, but their hopes were shattered with the ruling TRS not making any efforts to improve the living standards of people, he said.

He demanded the government to debate over the issues faced by the Gulf workers. Referring to the government’s proposal to construct a new Secretariat, VH alleged that the move was aimed at kickbacks from the contractors.

He said there was no future for Telugu Desam Party in Telangana. District Congress Committee president Aitham Satyam, Seetaramulu, Tajuddin and Balaji Naik were among others present.
