The leaders and party activists of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) celebrated Deeksha Diwas on a grand note by donating blood here in Khammam on Wednesday. The day marks the indefinite hunger strike launched by party supremo K Chandrashekar Rao on November 29, 2009 for the separate state of Telangana.

Khammam: The leaders and party activists of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) celebrated Deeksha Diwas on a grand note by donating blood here in Khammam on Wednesday. The day marks the indefinite hunger strike launched by party supremo K Chandrashekar Rao on November 29, 2009 for the separate state of Telangana.

After inaugurating the blood camp, local legislator Puvvada Ajay Kumar said that November 29 remains etched in the history as it was the day when TRS chief and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar KCR started the indefinite hunger strike which forced all sections of people, irrespective of their political inclinations, to take part in the separate statehood movement.

With firm determination to achieve separate Telangana, KCR has inspired many people present across the region and set example for others by leading the separate statehood movement from the front, Puvvada noted, adding that as CM, KCR has been working tirelessly for the development of the state.

City Mayor Dr Papa Lal, Chairman of District Libraries Department Azeez-ul-haq, Khammam Agriculture Market Committee Chairman R J C Krishna, TRS leaders Nabi, Gopaiah, Subba Rao, Venkateshwarlu and others took part in the blood donation programme.
