In a gruesome road accident, three persons, including a five-year-old girl, were killed and four others suffered serious injuries when they were hit by a speeding lorry. The incident took place at Pinapaka bus stand in Wyra mandal in Khammam on Thursday early hours.

According to sources, the driver of the lorry who was reportedly in inebriated condition rammed the vehicle into the passengers waiting at Pinapaka bus stand. The deceased were identified as Amarlapudi Damini (5), Davidhu (50) and Dachapuram Somaraju (40). Death was instantaneous for all three of them.

Meanwhile, locals shifted other three injured persons to nearby hospital. They said the lorry driver first rammed into an Innova vehicle parked near the bus stop and then knocked down the passengers waiting at the bus stand.

Upon receiving information, Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao along with Wyra MLA Madan Lal reached the spot and enquired about the incident. He ordered the officials to take immediate steps for providing treatment to the injured persons.

The Minister further ordered the officials to take necessary measures for preventing road accidents by conducting vigorous drunk and drive campaigns besides slapping cases against the errant drivers.

Telugu Desam MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah consoled the family members of the deceased persons. Police officials registered a case and took the driver into custody. Further probe into the case is underway.
