Khammam: The Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika (TVV) has demanded the government to arrest leaders of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for encouraging communalism in the universities and for attacking leaders of other student unions.

As part of the bandh call given by various student unions, the representatives of TVV and Peoples Democratic Student Union (PDSU) on Wednesday took out a rally protesting against the attack of ABVP leaders on student union leaders of TVV, PDSU, BSF and DSU at Satavahana University on December 25.

Speaking on the occasion, TVV district secretary Swathi alleged that instead of carrying out proper investigation into the Satavahana incident, the police without concerning others declared holidays for the university and made students vacate the hostel after the incident.

“With the support of government and ABVP leaders, the police foisted cases against student leaders of PDSU and TVV and arrested them illegally,” she alleged, urging all students to fight against police unison besides opposing Manusmriti.

She further demanded cases against ABVP leaders for “encouraging communal riots on the campus”. Vedika leaders Mahender, Nani, PDSU leaders Sukesh, Vardhan, Mahi, Azad, Venu and others took part in the protest rally.
