Collector directs officials to develop NH crossings
With two major national highways passing through the district, District Collector Ronald Rose has directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive draft plan for the development of all the major crossings and junctions in the district.
Mahbubnagar: With two major national highways passing through the district, District Collector Ronald Rose has directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive draft plan for the development of all the major crossings and junctions in the district.
At present, the R&B and Municipal authorities have identified more than six major crossings (junctions) across NH 167 and NH 44 that are passing through the district.
According to the district authorities, they have taken up the development of six major junctions in the district. These junctions are chosen for development based on the traffic density and frequency of accidents. “There are two major National Highways, viz., NH 44 and NH 167, are passing across Mahbubnagar district.
“We have identified as many as six major junctions that are crisscrossing these highways and there are traffic snarls and accident zones in the district. In view of this. we have thought of developing these junctions in order to ensure smooth flow of traffic and at the same time protect the lives of the innocent people.
Accordingly, directions have been issued to Municipal engineers, Municipal commissioner and R & B authorities for preparing a draft action plan to immediately take up the road widening, and junction development works in the district”
Especially, all the major junctions at Jadcherla, Bhootpur, Mahbubnagar, Addakul, Devarkadra, Marikal and Makthal and other areas have become accident prone zones where accidents occur every year.
Especially the officials are asked to prepare a comprehensive draft development plan to ensure smooth passage of traffic with approach roads, junction signal lights and adequate underpasses and flyover bridges built at all the major junctions.
Municipal commissioner Surrender, Assistant commissioner of Police Vidhyasagar, Municipal Engineer Satyanarayana, Town planning Officer Prabhakar Reddy, R&B National Highway Engineer Surender and other officials were present at the meeting held by the district collector.
