Mahbubnagar: The Congress activists in Mahbubnagar district on Tuesday staged a demonstration in protest against suspension of party MLAs from the Assembly. The suspension followed the ruckus and attack on the State Legislative Council Chairman Swamy Goud. The Congress workers protested by blocking the roads and burning the effigies of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

While expressing their protest against the government’s attitude, Vijay Kumar Reddy, president of Congress party Nagarkurnool district unit and Motilal Nayak, Congress Mandal President of Veldanda mandal in Nagarkurnool district staged a protest on the Srisailam-Hyderabad national highway and disrupted the traffic.

“The KCR government is suppressing the voice of the opposition parties and resorting to repressive measures by suspending the Congress MLAs for raising people’s issues. Upon the call given by our State Congress leadership we have decided to express our protest in each and every mandal headquarters and expose the KCR government’s repression on the people,” said Vijay Kumar Reddy.

The congress party workers also came out on roads in Shadnagar, Achampet, Amrabad, Bijinapally, Alampur and other parts of erstwhile Mahabubnagar district and blocked roads and burnt effigies of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. In Alampur constituency of Jogulamaba Gadwal district, the police took precautionary measures and arrested the congress party leaders and housed them in Camp Office of MLA Sampath Kumar and ensured there is no untoward incident in the mandal.

Similarly the congress party workers in Jogulamba Gadwal district were aggrieved over the government’s attitude for suspending their beloved leader MLA D.K. Aruna from Assembly and resorted to take out a huge rally from Gandhi Chowk, however the police foiled their attempt for a rally and arrested them and shifted all the arrested to Dharur police station.

The congress party workers in Jadcherla mandal of Mahabubnagar district also held a protest at Ambedkar cross road and burnt the effigies of KCR and expressed their displeasure over the government’s dictatorial and unilateral attitude to suspend 11 congress MLAs including Komati Reddy Venkata Reddy, Sampath Kumar, D.K. Aruna and others from the state Assembly.
