BJP demands steel plant in Khammam district

Khammam: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists staged a dharna at the collectorate here on Monday protesting the allotment of Bayyaram iron ore mines to Vizag Steel Plant. BJP senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya participated in the protest. Speaking at the programme, Dattatreya alleged that the iron ore mines spread in 1, 94,000 acres were handed over to the Rakshana Steel Company by the previous regime by dubious means. He demanded the Government to establish Iron and Steel industry in Bayyaram and to provide employment to tribals. He warned that BJP would launch a nation level movement if government goes ahead with the proposal to transport iron ore from Bayyaram. BJP senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya and party district president Sridhar Reddy and other activists were arrested by the Police. Later they were let out after making an entry at the police station.
