Anigandlapadu (Krishna): The YSR Congress leader YS Sharmila here on Saturday held a silent protest condemning the brutal rape and killing of a five-year old girl in New Delhi. A Sharmila, along with the party leaders and women, tied a black ribbon to her mouth and sat in protest for one hour during her 126th day of Maro Praja Prasthanam padayatra.

The party honorary president, YS Vijayamma, senior leaders Vasireddy Padma, Samineni Udaya Bhanu, Jogi Ramesh and a number of party leaders and activists were present in the protest.

Earlier, Sharmila interacted with farmers at Penuganchiprolu where she said that both the Congress and the Telugu Desam have colluded to work against the farmers in the State. She recalled that late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had waived Rs 12,000 crore agriculture loans during his tenure. However, the present Congress government, supported by the Opposition Telugu Desam Party, have failed to give even water to farmers, she said.

She alleged that the TD chief had sold his party to the ruling Congress only to escape from corruption cases. She said that Chandrababu Naidu was sparing the Congress government despite the putting over Rs 30,000 crore burden on the people through electricity reforms and prices. She said that both Hitler and Chandrababu Naidu were born on the same day and their attitude towards people was also the same.

Sharmila said that Chandrababu Naidu would first make corruption charges against YS Jaganmohan Reddy, which would be later reported in two Telugu newspapers for which the Congress and the CBI would extend support. She alleged that the TDP, the Congress party and the CBI were playing a game to keep Jaganmohan Reddy in jail and prevent the YSR Congress Party from coming to power. However, she said that people were with Jaganmohan Reddy and the YSR Congress Party and asserted that no one can stop the party from coming to power in the State.
